Baseball for Boys and Girls Age 13-16UpdatedFriday January 18, 2019 byIthaca Babe Ruth League.
Ithaca's Babe Ruth program provides the opportunity for players aged 13-16 to continue their baseball playing experience beyond our Cal Ripken program. Baseball is played under Official Baseball Rules on a 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches.
In the spring, we provide opportunities for players who aren't playing on a scholastic team (modified, JV, or varsity) to get out on the field and play. (Scholastic players are welcome, too!) Our spring training program consists of a combination of practices and informal games starting in mid-April and running through mid-to-late May.
The Babe Ruth summer season features a 10- to 12-game schedule, plus a week of playoffs, running from mid-June to the end of July. Ithaca Babe Ruth typically partners with the Quad County Babe Ruth league (Lansing, Dryden, Trumansburg, etc.) for a joint summer season. This partnership allows the opportunity to create two divisions -- 14U Prep (ages 13-14) and 16U Babe Ruth (ages 15-16).
Registration opens in April, teams are formed in mid-May, and practices begin shortly before Memorial Day.
